Safety and equipment

The Portetta routes are high mountain climbs: few bolts in place, limestone rock that is sometimes loose, descent by abseiling.

Equipment

• 50 m rope: abseils are up to 25 m long.
• 10 quickdraws, helmet, harness, descender, slings and maillons for the abseils.
• Friends from size 0.75 to size 4 for Golden Friends.
• Approach shoes: patches of snow are possible early in the season.

Conditions

• Start early: summer storms are frequent in the Vanoise.
• The required grade of each route (5+ to 6b) must be led comfortably.

Dial 112. Give the name of the route, the sector and your departure time.
