Erik Clavery, a world trail running elite athlete, will wear Courchevel's colours in 2013.
This year, Erik will also be patron of the second edition of the “Dynafit MOONtain Races Courchevel”
Since his 2011-2012 Trail World Champion title, Erik Clavery, a member of the French team, has kept stringing together victories, taking first place at the Saintélyon in 2011, the Eco Trail de Paris 2012, the trail du Golf du Morbihan 2012 and the Dodo Trail 2012 in Mauritius.
So that he can defend his title in the best possible conditions at the next world championship, to be held in Wales in July, and realise his project “Living my passion: trail running!”, the resort of Courchevel will be at his side to support him and help with his preparation by providing all the necessary equipment and infrastructure.
There is no doubt that this specialist in trail and ultra trail races over distances of 42 km to 170 km will find what he is looking for in the Alpine massifs of Courchevel, at the gates of the Vanoise National Park.
After a fine win this weekend for Erik in the défi des fondus (22 km) and a 3rd place in the Trail du Vignoble Nantais (52 km) despite a bad bout of hypoglycaemia, the 2013 season will continue with the main objectives being the Eco Trail de Paris, the world championship, the French championship, the Templiers and the Courchevel X-Trail.
This year, Erik will also be patron of the second edition of the “Dynafit MOONtain Races Courchevel”, a 9.3 km night-time trail time trial held every full-moon Tuesday evening from 28 May to 17 September, finishing at a mountain hut.
The support of this renowned athlete is a great source of pride for Courchevel, which has been investing in and developing outdoor activities in recent years with the association “Courchevel Sports Alpinisme” through mountain sports, endurance sports and multisport events, organising many competitions throughout the year. The help of service providers and other associations strengthens this approach to organise certain events such as the Courchevel X-Trail, the Cyclo’courch, La Frappadingue…
Thanks to this partnership, Erik will be able to get involved and take part in creating the various projects the resort wishes to offer in the trail running scene.
