The next Millet Ski Touring Courchevel promise to be full of colour
The weather forecasts issued at the start of the week for Wednesday 11 February, the day of the 9th round of the Millet Ski Touring Courchevel, were hardly cheerful: heavy snowfall and sleet were expected. In the end, a fine break in the clouds appeared a few minutes before the start, allowing the 176 participants to perform on the Vertical Race course in excellent conditions.
This round was particularly enlivened by the notable presence of a large delegation from the Ski Club de Chamrousse, who came in numbers to take on the demanding 3.2 km course with 500 m of elevation gain between Courchevel Le Praz and Courchevel 1850. A fine experience for the club’s young skiers, who now have only one wish: to come back in costume for the grand final on Wednesday 25 February.
Second stage win for Vincent Loustau
After winning the second round on the alternative course last 1 January, Vincent Loustau (Team Vibram) treats himself to another victory in this 9th stage in 24 min 10 s.
The Finn Ari-Pekka Joensuu takes second place in 25 min 53 s ahead of Guillaume Cambon (26 min 29 s).
Perrine Gindre wins the women’s race
A member of Team Isère Montagne, Perrine Gindre takes the victory in 27 min 30 s with a lead of only 9 seconds over Sonia Brussoz (27 min 39 s), winner of the previous round.
Louise Rigaud completes the podium in 31 min 05 s ahead of the Italian Martina Giachino (31 min 19 s) and the Spaniard Lula Martinez Perez (31 min 38 s).
The carnival festivities begin next Wednesday
Costumes will be out for the 10th and penultimate round of the season, held the day after Shrove Tuesday. The Dynastar special will take place on Wednesday 18 February, thereby extending the carnival tradition. Registration will be free for everyone who starts in costume at this “Mercredi-Gras”, themed around the Olympic Games. A fine opportunity to get into the mood in support of the four French athletes competing the next day in Cortina in the Sprint event: Courchevel’s own Emily Harrop, Margot Ravinel, Thibault Anselmet and Pablo Giner Dalmasso.
After the round, a pair of Dynastar M-Vertical 82 skis will be drawn by lot from among all the participants in costume.
Also note that the Sprint event will be broadcast live on Thursday 19 February from 12.30 pm in the Croisette hall, with many prizes to be won.
Building up to the grand final
A fine opportunity to start getting into the mood ahead of the MSTC grand fancy-dress final scheduled for Wednesday 25 February, with the hope of celebrating the very first Olympic medals in the history of ski mountaineering.
Nearly 1,000 participants are expected at the start of this final festive round. For the occasion, a jury of experts from the partner Deguisetoi.fr will choose the best costume of the evening.
But before this great ski mountaineering celebration, whose high point will be the concert by the duo Ofenbach coming to conclude this incredible 16th season, some great battles are still expected in the next 2 rounds for the places of honour in the overall standings. Currently, the Swiss Rémi Bonnet in 20 min 02 s and Axelle Gachet-Mollaret in 23 min 40 s are in pole position.
Next date: 10th MSTC round, Wednesday 18 February 2026.
