Round 10 - MILLET SKI TOURING COURCHEVEL - Wednesday 14 February 2024

St Valentine’s Day for the 10th Millet Ski Touring Courchevel

St Valentine’s Day for the 10th Millet Ski Touring Courchevel

Lovers had arranged to meet this Wednesday 14 February at the 10th round of the Millet Ski Touring Courchevel to celebrate St Valentine’s Day. For the occasion, a Dynastar special was on the programme, with ski tests organised all day at the MSTC finish on the Courchevel 1850 snow front. To reward one of the 30 couples present, 2 pairs of touring skis were put up for grabs in a prize draw.

It was a fine success, with more than 180 ski tourers present. 9 nations were there for this magnificent evening of good humour and conviviality, with a beautiful course on top to celebrate Valentine’s Day. What a long way we have come since 8 December 2010 and the 26 participants at the very first start.

Margarita Lokciewicz and Sebastian Druszkiewicz united for better or worse

Chance sometimes works wonders. After each having managed to climb onto the top step of the podium in turn during this 14th season, the couple, natives of Poland, Margarita Lokciewicz and Sebastian Druszkiewicz found themselves together in third place, credited with 31min59s and 25min09s respectively. Luck also smiled on them, as they won the 2 pairs of Dynastar touring skis up for grabs.

In second position, Clémence David, winner of the 3rd round on 27 December 2023, rubbed shoulders with Jean-Baptiste Curtet, a member of the organising club Courchevel Sports Outdoor who is in the thick of preparing for the Pierra Menta. They posted times of 30min10s and 24min37s.

The palm of this 10th round goes to Léna Bonnel, member of the French ski mountaineering team, in 28min25s, and Thibault Marquet, 2nd in the 2022 Dynastar X3 Courchevel, in 24min20s. They won brilliantly in this 10th round, with, as a bonus, a top 10 for Léna (8th) in the provisional women’s overall standings.

Jean-Christophe Bette to carry the Olympic flame

A loyal MSTC participant with numerous podium finishes to his name, the most decorated rower in French rowing and gold medallist at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Jean-Christophe Bette took 7th place in 26min16s. He will have the honour of carrying the Paris 2024 Olympic flame around mid-July in Compiègne, his home town.

Last full moon next week

Next week the full moon will light up the 3rd and last Plum special of season 14 at the 11th round on the official MSTC course. There will be a touch of magic as participants cover the 3.2 km and 500 m of elevation gain between Courchevel Le Praz and Courchevel 1850 by the light of the moon. A pair of Plum R120 bindings will be drawn by lot among all participants.

Next date: Millet Ski Touring Courchevel on Wednesday 21 February 2024
