The 4th Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel for Florent Perrier and Valentine Fabre.
The year starts in grand style for the Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel (DSTC) and the organising association “Courchevel Sports Alpinisme”, which for the first time in 3 years has passed the “100” mark in the number of participants. These ski mountaineering climbs keep growing, and this Wednesday 2 January saw a new participation record with 119 competitors entered. Many holidaymakers in the resort were there, among them a large number of Russian runners, including Russian parliamentarian Mr Oleg Botcharov who finished this climb in 52min46s, accompanied by Philippe Mugnier , deputy mayor of the municipality, who took the opportunity to improve his personal record again in 44min46s.
Arnaud Decugis, an emblematic figure of tennis and coach of tennis player Julie Halard, world number 7 in February 2000, finished in 51min37s.
The retirees are back…
With 11 world champion titles and almost as many European titles, Florent Perrier is the most decorated ski mountaineer in the world. An immense champion, discreet but always determined, who has left a magnificent mark in the snows of the highest summits and on the 1st edition of the DSTC (2010-2011), where he finished 4th overall in 24min10s.
At the end of winter 2011 he announced his retirement from international competition and decided to celebrate by attempting the 24-hour elevation gain record, which he shattered with 18,260 metres.
Third last week, Florent of the Arêches Beaufort multisport club won this time in 24min08s ahead of Alexandre Pellicier (5th in the first edition of the DSTC in 24min21s) of the Granier Ski Club, who had also retired at the same time and is also returning to competition with a fine second place in 25min02s. Tanguy Roche of the CSA 13th BCA club took third position in 25min04s.
Among the women, Valentine Fabre of CAF Excellence stood out in 30min40s ahead of Christine Gachet of CAF Vanoise in 35min08s and Sylvie Claus in 35min25s.
