The 12th Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel goes to Julie Mottier and Julien Poquet.
Guillaume Prin, chairman of the association “Courchevel Sports Alpinisme”, which has organised the “Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel” (DSTC) every Wednesday evening of the winter since 12 December, had announced last week that participation would rise this Wednesday 20 February after the slight dip of the last two weeks, as every year. He was not wrong: 66 highly motivated competitors were there to climb on touring skis the 3.2 km and 500 m of elevation gain between Le Praz and Courchevel 1850.
While some sportspeople enter this race regularly throughout the season, others, notably holidaymakers in the resort, come back every year and take the opportunity to check their form. Such as Israeli Dmitri Smetanitch , encouraged by his high mountain guide Jean-Louis Guigonnet , who had come to take part at the same time last year and who today was surprised to finish in 44min59s, 2 minutes better than last year!
Also worth highlighting is the fine performance of cadet Morgan Lamure of the Courchevel sports club, winner of the 2012 “Courchevel Vertical Challenge” (the sum of the 3 best performances of the year: in ski mountaineering on the DSTC, in trail running on the “Dynafit MOONtain Races Courchevel” held every full-moon Tuesday evening from 28 May, and in cycling on the “Cyclo’Courch” offered every Wednesday evening of the summer), who finished in 30min39s.
The association “Courchevel Sports Alpinisme” was in the spotlight for this 12th round with two of its representatives on the podium, Julien Poquet , who won in 26min56s, and in third place Laurent Robin in 27min23s, leaving in second position Rémi Berchet , who finished in 27min02s.
Among the girls, Julie Mottier of CAF Aravis won in 33min27s ahead of Pauline Ferrand in 39min29s and Juliette Klippel in 40min55s.
Only 5 meetings remain before the final on 27 March. The countdown has begun for those who have set themselves the goal of taking the season record, improving their time or coming to take part at least once to compare themselves with the other participants and appear in the overall season ranking, which today counts more than 530 ranked competitors.
Next week, the provisional record currently held by Catalan Kilian Jornet Burgada in 22min48s may well be beaten with the arrival of Mathéo Jacquemoud , who has just won 3 under-23 world champion titles and 2 medals in the senior category at the 2013 world championships.
