New record for Laetitia Roux and win for Damiano Lenzi at the 8th DSTC.

After the magnificent weekend of the second stage of the 2014 Ski Mountaineering World Cup, held in Courchevel on 25 and 26 January with an Individual event on Saturday and a Vertical Race event on Sunday, the Dynafit Ski Touring Courchevel (DSTC) carries on every Wednesday until 26 March.
A look back at the two days of the World Cup and the Open Millet French Cup, which were a huge success for the organisers, with more than 15 nations represented and plenty of spectators. The Saturday Individual event in the Saulire area delighted all the participants, and in particular Italian Robert Antonioli , who won it, but also the French team, which took 3 medals: gold for Laetitia Roux, silver for Alexis Sévenec and bronze for Axelle Mollaret. As for the two Courchevel representatives, Mathéo Jacquemoud finished 9th after a technical problem and William Perrier took 6th place in the juniors. In the Open Millet French Cup, wins went to Fabien Meynet and Katia Tomatis.
The Sunday Vertical Race was also an opportunity to take part in the 8th DSTC, as the course was identical and all the runners' times counted towards the DSTC overall standings. The Catalan, Kilian Jornet, favourite of the event after setting a record time of 22min16s on 8 January, could not repeat his feat because of a health problem and finished 19th. After winning this event at the 1st stage of the World Cup in Switzerland, in the resort of Verbier, a week earlier, Mathéo Jacquemoud was keen to fly the colours of Courchevel high. Mathéo took a fine bronze medal in 22min28s after leading this climb until 200 m from the finish, before being caught out by the attack of the two Italians Damiano Lenzi and Robert Antonioli , who finished first in 22min19s and second in 22min26s respectively. Wiliam Perrier took 8th place in the junior category (25min35s). Among the women, Laetitia Roux smashed her own record with a time of 25min31s, leaving the silver medal to Swiss athlete Maude Mathys (26min00s) and the bronze medal to Andorra’s representative, Sophie Dusautoir Betrand (26min56s). In the Open Millet French Cup, Vivien Berlaud (25min19s) and Corinne Favre (29min03) won.
