This Wednesday 11 February, a season record turnout of 164 competitors was at the start of this 9th round of the Millet Ski Touring Courchevel (MSTC). Only 6 races now remain for all ski mountaineering enthusiasts before the final on 25 March, to come and set a time on this Vertical Race course that has become unmissable. The provisional standings of this new season, which started late because of the lack of snow, currently include 524 different competitors. Since the first round on 1 January 2015, run on the official MSTC course, Kilian Jornet has set the men’s record very high at 22min01s, but among the women the record changes week by week.

In this 9th round of the MSTC, it was Corinne Favre, 3rd in the 2015 French ski mountaineering championship Vertical Race event, who took a new provisional record in 28min30s. First last week, the trail running champion Stéphanie Duc finished second in 31min38s and Elsa Nodet completed the podium in 32min23s.

Among the men, the top places are very tight, with Charly Allerme of the Courchevel Sports Alpinisme Club coming out on top in 27min13s ahead of Etienne Loisel of CAF Chambéry (27min15s) and Anthony Fraissard of the 7th Alpine Chasseurs Battalion (27min35s).

In the ESF challenge, wins for Laurent Hudry of ESF Valmorel in 29min59s and Sylvie Ferragu of ESF Courchevel 1550 in 36min09s.

Worth noting is the fine performance of Malo Lions, born in 2002, who took the record in the minime category with a time of 32min41s. The French sailor Vincent Riou, notably winner of the Vendée Globe in 2004-2005, completed this climb of 3.2 km and 500 m of elevation gain in 51min13s.

New Trophy this season with €8,000 in prize money and €4,800 in vouchers to be won!

This year, the season record holders of the 2014 – 2015 MSTC will be presented on Wednesday 25 March at the final with the “Raymond & René Millet” Trophy, named after the founders of Millet, and €2,000 in prize money. The 2nd best scratch times (man and woman) will be rewarded with €1,250 in prize money and the 3rd best scratch times (man and woman) with €750 in prize money.

The best men’s and women’s times in each category of the 2014 - 2015 season will receive vouchers (public price, excluding sale items) for Millet products at the Camp de Base shop in the Forum at Courchevel 1850. For the Benjamin, Minime and Cadet categories: €200 voucher. For the Junior and Espoir categories: €300 voucher, and for the Senior, Veteran and “Senior-Veteran” (60 and over) categories: €400 voucher.

3rd Grand Slam next week.

In the weeks when the MILLET SKI TOURING COURCHEVEL (MSTC) and the PLUM KV COURCHEVEL (PKVC) are organised, a ranking is drawn up for those who complete the “Grand Slam” (taking part in the 2 events in the same week).

Next week, the “3rd Grand Slam” will take into account the combined times of the MSTC on Wednesday 18 February and the PKVC times on Friday 20 February. The “Grand Slam” records are for the moment held by William Perrier in 1h13min50s and Géraldine Bau in 1h37min03s.
