New record for Corinne Favre and victory for Florent Perrier in the 2nd Plum KV Courchevel.

Conditions were ideal this Friday 5 February for the 2nd round of the "Plum KV Courchevel" (PKVC). Under a beautiful starry sky, the 87 ski mountaineers covered the 1,000 m of elevation gain over 5 km of this Vertical Kilometre. The starts from Le Praz for this time trial were staggered from 6 pm to 7 pm according to competitors' estimated times, so that everyone could arrive together at the top of the Loze relay.
Florent Perrier of the Arêches Beaufort multisport club (CMSAB), holder of the current Millet Ski Touring Courchevel record, set the best time of this second round in 42min55s and took second place in the provisional overall standings behind Mathéo Jacquemoud (40min05s). Next came Steven Blanc of team Sybelles in 45min05s and Thomas Pueyo of Team Isère Montagne in 45min21s.
Corinne Favre (CMSAB) consolidated her position as women’s leader by improving the record she had set in the first round by 5 seconds, lowering the bar to 51min04s. Stéphanie Duc of the club VEO 2000 finished second in 56min23 ahead of Mélanie Rousset (CMSAB) third in 56min37s.
In the ESF challenge, Noël Feige of ESF Megève took the lead of the provisional overall standings in 50min52s, and among the women instructors, Corine Chauchaix of ESF Arêches won in 1h03min24s.
At the end of the 4 events offered this winter, the French ski mountaineering records will be awarded to the woman and man who have set the best time of the season on this vertical kilometre course approved by the French Mountain and Climbing Federation (FFME), in addition to prize money of 500 euros.
At the end of the winter season the PKVC will make way for the trail runners / skyrunners, with 4 rounds in trail version included on the "Skyrunner France Series 2016" circuit. A concept unique in the world, where ski mountaineers and trail runners can express themselves and compare their respective performances on a Vertical Kilometre course that is strictly identical in winter and summer!
The best men’s and women’s times of the summer season will be rewarded with prize money of 500 euros. 1,000 euros will be awarded to the best men’s and women’s time of the year, by adding together the 2 performances in ski mountaineering and in trail.
Corinne Favre and Anthony Fraissard win the 2nd Grand Slam.
In the weeks when the MILLET SKI TOURING COURCHEVEL (MSTC) and the PLUM KV COURCHEVEL (PKVC) are organised, a ranking is drawn up for those who complete the “Grand Slam” (taking part in the 2 events in the same week).
This week, the "Grand Slam" took into account the combined times of the MSTC on Wednesday 3 February with the times of the PKVC on Friday 5 February. 22 competitors completed both races. Anthony Fraissard won in 1h13min04s and Corinne Favre set the new women’s record in 1h19min30s.
The official prize-givings for the 4 “Grand Slam” rounds of the season and for the Plum KV Courchevel 2016 in ski mountaineering will take place on Wednesday 23 March at the great ski mountaineering party in Courchevel, on the occasion of the final of the Millet Ski Touring Courchevel.
